Scooping gets rid of the mess.
This gets rid of the smell.

You can have a spotless yard that still reeks in August. The waste is gone — the bacteria in the grass and soil aren't. We treat what's actually causing the smell, at the source, instead of spraying perfume over it.

Scoop Dog pet odour removal service treating a backyard in Ottawa

Why does my yard still smell?

Because removing waste doesn't remove what waste leaves behind. Bacteria stay in the grass and the soil, and warm weather wakes them right back up.

Urine build-up

It soaks in. Scooping can't touch it, and it concentrates wherever your dog goes most.

Waste residue

Even a perfectly scooped yard has organic residue left in the blades and the topsoil.

High-traffic potty areas

Dogs are creatures of habit. One corner takes the whole load, year after year.

Warm weather

Heat doesn't create the smell. It amplifies what was already sitting there.

Poor drainage

Low spots hold moisture, and moisture holds odour. It never fully dries out and clears.

Snow melt

Spring thaw releases a winter's worth of it in a single week. Everyone notices this one.

How it works

We spray in bacteria that eat the bacteria causing the smell.

We use EZ Clean — a Canadian-made, non-toxic solution built around beneficial bacteria. Not the kind that makes you sick. The kind that breaks organic matter down naturally.

Think of them as tiny workers you spray into the problem areas. They actively consume the urine, waste residue, bile, and other organic sources of odour — which is why the treatment lifts stains as well as smells.

This is the important part: a deodorizer masks. This eliminates. Masking wears off in a week and you're back where you started.

Who this is for

If any of these is you, the treatment will make an obvious difference.

Strong urine smell in the yard

The one you notice the second you open the back door.

Multiple dogs

Two or three dogs on one lawn overwhelms what the soil can break down on its own.

Small yards

Less grass, same output. The potty area is concentrated whether you like it or not.

After the spring thaw

Pair it with a spring clean-up. Scoop the winter's waste, then treat what it left behind.

Selling or renting the place

Buyers walk into the back yard. A smell is the kind of thing they don't mention and don't forget.

You just want it to smell clean

Which is a perfectly good reason on its own.

Most clients add it to their regular schedule.

Routine scooping plus periodic deodorizing stops odour building up in the first place, rather than fighting it once it's already bad. It's the cheaper way round.

Odour removal runs May 1 – October 31

It's a seasonal service, and that isn't an arbitrary window. The bacteria in EZ Clean need warmth to work — spraying a frozen lawn in March accomplishes nothing except emptying the tank.

Booking around the thaw? Get a spring clean-up first to clear the winter's waste, then have us treat the yard once it warms up. That order matters.

Bundle it with the rest

One crew, one visit, one bill.

Autumn is "poop camouflage season" — we can only pick up what we can see, and a deep leaf layer hides a startling amount.

We don't haul leaves away. They're bagged in yard-waste bags and left on your property.

Odour removal questions

The ones specific to this service. Our full FAQ is here →

Is it safe for my dog, my kids, and my grass?

Yes. EZ Clean is a Canadian brand and it's non-toxic. It works by introducing beneficial bacteria that break down organic matter — there's no harsh chemistry involved.

It's designed to be used on lawns that dogs and children actually use. That's the entire point of it.

Does it mask the smell or actually remove it?

It removes it.

A masking product covers odour with fragrance, and once the fragrance fades you're back to where you started. EZ Clean's bacteria consume the urine, waste residue, and organic matter that's producing the smell in the first place.

No source, no smell. It also lifts the associated staining.

Why is it only May 1 – October 31?

Because the bacteria need warmth to be active. Treating a frozen or near-frozen lawn does nothing except waste the product.

If your yard smells bad coming out of winter, that's normal — the thaw releases months of it at once. Book a spring clean-up to scoop it, then have us treat the yard once things warm up.

How often do I need it?

It depends on how many dogs you have and how small the yard is. A single dog on a large lawn needs it far less often than three dogs sharing a small one.

Most clients treat it as a recurring add-on rather than a one-off, because preventing build-up is cheaper and more effective than fighting it after the fact. We'll tell you honestly what your yard needs.

Do I need to be a scooping client to book it?

No. You can book odour removal on its own.

That said, it works considerably better alongside regular scooping — treating a yard while new waste keeps accumulating on it is fighting uphill.

What does it cost?

Odour removal is quoted with your service, because it depends on your yard size and how concentrated the problem areas are.
