We've got answers.
Pricing, scheduling, what happens to the waste, what we need from you. If it's not here, call us — a real person picks up.
01 Pricing & Billing
How much does dog poop scooping cost?
| Dogs | Weekly | Bi-Weekly |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 dogs | $30 / visit | $40 / visit |
| 3–4 dogs | $40 / visit | $90 / visit |
| 5+ dogs | Custom quote | |
One-time clean-ups start at $100. Spring clean-ups start at $160.
Prices cover one yard area. Additional areas are $10 each. Weekly and bi-weekly plans have a one-time setup charge on the first bill. HST is extra.
Is there an extra charge for the first clean?
Yes. Weekly and bi-weekly clients pay a one-time setup charge of $10–$50 on their first bill. It gets you into the system and onto a route, and covers the extra time that first visit takes.
Where you land in that range depends on how much waste has accumulated and how long the grass is. A yard that's been kept up sits at the low end. A yard that hasn't been touched in months sits higher. We tell you the number before we scoop — no surprises on the bill.
Signing up during Spring Rush (March–April)? Your initial charge may be higher.
How does billing work?
Weekly — A 50% deposit covers your first 2 weeks. On week 4 we charge the remainder to the card on file. After that it's simply per visit, charged once each week's scoop is done.
Bi-Weekly — A 50% deposit covers your first visit. When we return two weeks later we charge the remainder. After that it's per visit, charged once we've finished.
One-Time & Spring Clean-Ups — A 50% deposit secures your spot on the list. The balance is charged to the card on file once the clean-up is complete.
What's the difference between a one-time clean and a spring clean-up?
They're two different jobs, which is why they're priced separately.
A one-time clean-up (from $100) is a single catch-up visit you can book in any month — company's coming, you're moving out, or the yard just got away from you for a few weeks.
A spring clean-up (from $160) is the big one. A full winter's worth of waste comes out from under the melting snow all at once, on top of matted grass and hidden build-up. It takes considerably longer, so it costs more.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No contracts. Start, pause, and cancel any time by emailing info@scoopdog.ca or calling 613-400-4040. No cancellation fee, no notice period, no hoops.
02 Scheduling & Service
What time will you be at my home?
We aren't able to give a time window on your scoop day. We have a lot of yards to clean, and our routes are constantly re-optimized for efficiency — which is a big part of what keeps our rates low for you. Routes run from around 7am until dark.
You'll always get a text when we're on the way, usually 5–30 minutes' notice. Your scoop day will be the same day each week, and if it ever has to change we'll tell you in advance.
Do I have to be home when you clean?
No. We simply ask for easy access to your gate.
Once the clean-up is done, we text a photo of the waste location and the closed gate to your phone, so you have a record of every single visit.
How do you dispose of the dog waste?
We do not haul away.
We bag the waste and place it in your trash can, or neatly outside your garage. Keeping the waste on-site is a big part of what keeps the rate where it is.
Do you provide service all year round?
Yes. Scoop Dog runs year-round in every area we serve. Even in winter, we still show up — most of the waste that accumulates on snow is still perfectly scoopable.
Do you disinfect your equipment?
Yes. We disinfect our equipment after every single clean-up using "Prevail", an organic, kennel-grade disinfectant. It stops germs travelling from one yard to the next.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry insurance, so both you and our staff are protected.
03 Weather, Skips & Changes
What happens if it rains or snows on my scoop day?
We scoop in most weather — this is Ottawa, we're used to it. But in a heavy downpour or a real snowfall, we can't find what we can't see, and we're not going to charge you for a job we can't do properly.
If we can't scoop, we skip that day and come back on your next scheduled service day. There's no extra charge for the catch-up.
You'll hear from us either way, so you're never left wondering.
What if I need to skip a week — vacation, or my dog is away?
Just let us know when your reminder text comes in 24 hours before, and we'll take you off the route for that visit.
If your dog is away and nothing is accumulating — a kennel stay, a trip, a visit to family — there's no extra charge when we return. There's nothing extra to pick up, so there's nothing extra to bill.
If your dog is still home and still going, skipping a visit means twice the waste waiting for us next time. In that case the return visit is charged at double the normal rate, because it's genuinely double the job.
So: dog gone, no charge. Dog home, it doubles up. Simple as that.
What if the gate is locked and you can't get in?
We won't hop a fence or walk through your house, so if the gate is locked we can't do the job — but the truck still made the trip and the slot on the route was still used.
A locked or blocked gate results in a $10 charge for the visit.
Easy to avoid: leave the gate unlocked on your scoop day, or give us the gate code. If you give us a code, we always lock up on our way out. In winter, please keep the gate clear of snow and ice.
What if my scoop day falls on a holiday?
Most holidays we run as normal. If we do have to skip one, we treat it exactly like a weather day: we come back on your next scheduled service day at no extra charge.
We'll always tell you in advance if a holiday is going to move your service day.
What if you miss some?
Tell us. Send a photo to 613-400-4040 or info@scoopdog.ca within 48 hours and we'll come back and re-scoop it, free.
The one honest caveat: we can only pick up what we can see. Long grass, deep leaves, and fresh snow hide a lot. That's not a miss — that's camouflage, and it's why we offer lawn mowing and leaf clean-up.
What if I get another dog?
Congratulations! Just let us know and we'll adjust your rate.
Pricing is tiered by dog count — 1–2 dogs, 3–4 dogs, and 5+ by custom quote — so adding a puppy to a one-dog household usually doesn't change your price at all. Going from two dogs to three does. See the price list →
The same goes the other way. If a dog is no longer with you, tell us and we'll bring the rate down.
What if I move?
If you're moving somewhere we already serve, we'll move your service with you — same schedule, no setup fee, no gap. Just give us the new address and your start date.
Moving outside our service area? Let us know and we'll cancel cleanly, no penalty. And if we expand into your new neighbourhood, we'll be in touch.
04 Your Yard & Your Dogs
Does Scoop Dog clean the entire yard?
We'll clean any area of your property that has a dog waste issue — grass, flower beds, rocks, mulch, all of it.
Please note that only one area is included in the price. If you'd like an additional area scooped, such as the front yard, that's an additional $10.
Can you clean with my dog in the yard?
We love dogs, and most of the time we all get along fine. But sometimes a dog won't let the tech into the yard, or a dog is doing its job protecting the property and its owners. We respect that we're the ones stepping into their world.
Two things make it easier: you'll know which day of the week we're coming, so you can leave your dog inside; and we text when we're on the way, giving you a few minutes to secure them.
We don't take unnecessary risks with your dog or our people.
What is my responsibility as a client?
- Keep the yard accessible. We'd rather not walk through your house if we don't have to.
- Keep the lawn cut. Autumn in this industry is known as "poop camouflage season" — we can only pick up what we can see. We offer lawn mowing and leaf clean-up if you'd like us to handle it.
- Gates unlocked and clear of snow and ice when we arrive. If you give us a gate code, we'll always lock up when we're done.
- Dogs indoors on service days. We'll text when we're on the way so you can bring them in.
- Let us know if you need to skip. Just reply to the reminder text you get 24 hours before.
05 Our Other Services
Do you do lawn mowing?
Yes! We'll cut your grass and scoop your poop on the same visit — one crew, one bill, one truck in your driveway. And if you don't have a dog, we're happy to just cut the grass.
Do you do odour removal?
Yes, as an add-on service. We use "EZ Clean", a Canadian brand that's also non-toxic.
Odour removal runs May 1 – October 31.
Do you do leaf clean-up?
Yes. Note that we don't haul leaves away — they get bagged in yard-waste bags and left on your property.
Reach out with a few photos of the yard and we'll get you an accurate quote.
Do you do snow removal?
Yes, but currently in Orleans only. It keeps your gate and walkway clear so scooping never has to skip a week.
Do you serve commercial properties?
Yes — apartment buildings, condo corporations, dog daycares, parks, and property management companies. We also install and manage pet waste stations.
Commercial work is quoted individually. See commercial services →
