How do you dispose of the dog waste?
We do not haul away. We bag the waste and place it in your trash can, or set it neatly outside your garage. It stays on your property, in your own bin.
What time will you be at my home?
We can’t give an exact timeframe on your scoop day — routes run from around 7am to dark and are optimized daily, which keeps rates low. You’ll get a text 5 to 30 minutes before we arrive, and your scoop day is the same each week.
Do you do odour removal?
Yes, as an additional service. We use “EZ Clean”, a non-toxic Canadian brand. Odour removal runs May 1st to October 31st.
Do I have to be home when you clean?
No. We simply ask for easy access to your gate. Once we’re done, we send a photo of the waste location and your closed gate to your phone.
Is there an extra charge for the first time?
Yes. First clean billings include a one-time $10 setup charge for weekly and bi-weekly clients. During Spring Rush (March–April) that initial charge may be higher.
How does billing work?
A 50% deposit is taken up front. Weekly and bi-weekly clients move to per-visit billing after the initial period, charged to the card on file after each scoop. One-time cleanups are charged the balance once we’ve scooped.
Can you clean with my dog in the yard?
Most of the time, yes. You’ll know your service day so you can leave your dog inside, and we text when we’re on the way so you can secure them. We never take unnecessary risks with your dog or our people.
Does Scoop Dog clean the entire yard?
We clean any area with a dog waste issue — flower beds, rock, mulch and more. One area is included; an additional area such as the front yard costs an extra $10.
What areas do you service?
We serve 20 Ottawa neighbourhoods across the east, south, west and central ends, from Orleans to Kanata, plus sub-neighbourhoods within them. See the full list on our service areas page.
Do you do lawn mowing?
Yes! We can cut your grass and scoop on the same visit, or just cut the grass if you don’t have a dog.
Do you provide services all year round?
Yes. Scoop Dog provides dog waste removal year-round, including winter. In snow, most accumulated waste is still scoopable.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No contracts. Start, pause or cancel any time by calling 613-400-4040 or emailing info@scoopdog.ca.
Do you do leaf clean up?
Yes we do! Note that we don’t haul leaves away — they’re bagged in yard waste bags and left on your property. Send a few photos for an accurate quote.
Do you disinfect your equipment?
Yes. We disinfect our equipment after each cleanup with “Prevail”, an organic, kennel-grade disinfectant.
What is my responsibility as a client?
- Your yard must be easily accessible.
- Lawns should be cut regularly and clear of heavy leaves or debris — we can only pick up what we can see.
- Gates should be unlocked and free of snow and ice. If you give us a gate code, we always lock up when we leave.
- Dogs should be indoors on service days. We text when we’re on the way.
- If you don’t need a service, tell us when your reminder text arrives 24 hours before.
